Title: Director of Public Relations
Description:

The Director of Public Relations is the individual designated to serve as the direct liaison between the media and the University as a whole. The Director works to enhance the visibility and image of Texas A&M university-Kingsville and distribute University information through effective media and community relations. The Director will be involved in the planning and execution of special events hosted by the university both on and off campus. Additional duties include preparing speeches and comments for the University President, as well as assisting the President in the production of presentations. The Director of Public Relations reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Required Experience:

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or a related communication field and at least five years public relations experience. Applicants with a master’s degree, experience in higher education public relations and who are accredited in public relations are preferred. The elected candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation to be hired for this position.

Description: The successful applicant will work primarily on the Toyota account and Gulf States Toyota. Duties will include media relations, community relations, writing and research. The Houston account executive will be part of team of six who function as the regional public relations presence for Toyota in the five-state area of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
